Formless Dance Build - Evasion Melee Hybrid (1.0.25)

Formless Dance — Staff → Throwing Spear → Formless Dance, Duelist Miracle, Bloodstone Earrings: Shadow + Spring Song toward ~60% crit / ~100% crit damage.

Formless Dance is the evasion melee-caster hybrid — a build that plays like a glass ninja: close range, high risk, and a dodge stat that does the real tanking.

Why it works

It stacks Shadow + Spring Song into a single threat profile: Shadow powers the damage side, Spring Song the mobility, and Bloodstone Earrings convert the aggression back into sustain so you don’t bleed out between dodges.

Stat targets

  • Crit rate: ~60% / Crit damage: ~100% — the same split the crit builds use, but reached through the hybrid’s dual stacking.
  • Evasion: stack it, but know the cap (below).

⚠️ Evasion cap — read this before investing

Displayed evasion past ~100 keeps observing diminishing returns; the observed dodge cap sits near 76%. Don’t chase evasion numbers past that point — put the leftover points into crit or HP once you’re near the cap. This is the single most common mistake on the route.

Leveling order

  1. Evasion to the ~76% observed cap — your survivability floor.
  2. Crit rate → ~60%, then crit damage → ~100%.
  3. Bloodstone Earrings sustain once you’re consistently in melee.

How to play

Melee-caster rhythm: dive in to stack Shadow, use Spring Song to reposition, and let the dodge stat absorb the errors. The build punishes standing still — keep moving between swings.

Evidence & patch notes

Video presets are circulating for this one, so the shape of the build is well documented. The evasion cap behavior is observed in-game rather than developer-confirmed. See the six-build overview for the full comparison.
