Sephiria Katana Build - Biryuu Crit Guide

The katana is Sephiria’s most active melee weapon, and its 1.0 endgame form — Biryuu — has quietly become one of the community’s favorite crit machines. If you like being in the enemy’s face and watching numbers fly, this is your line.

Evolution path

Katana → Cheongwangsak → Biryuu

The key upgrade happens at the final step: Biryuu’s attacks are counted as both normal attacks and final hits. Most weapons choose one classification; Biryuu gets both. That means any effect that reads “on normal attack” and any effect that reads “on final hit” both trigger on the same swing — Firmness and Precision-style effects effectively stack twice.

Core setup

• Miracle: Hunter
• Costume: Red Fox
• Stat targets: ~60% crit chance, ~100% crit damage
• Priority: attack speed and on-hit effects over raw attack damage — every extra swing is another double-dip

Playing the build

Biryuu rewards aggressive rhythm: wide normal attacks scale your crit window, and final hits keep the on-hit economy running. In Hard mode, respect burst windows — the Red Fox costume’s profile suits sustained aggression, but freeze and control supports (a Glacier dip, or companions that body-block) smooth out the dangerous floors.

Tank katana variant (Tier 60)

If crit piloting is too spicy, r/sephiria has cleared Tier 60 with a Blade Katana + maxed Guardian stat route — sheathed attacks become very strong after the second upgrade, and defense scaling carries the run. Slower, dramatically more forgiving, and a great first Hard-mode clear. Who should pick katana?

Pick katana if you want an active, high-actions-per-minute playstyle with the game’s widest crit scaling. Pick greatsword instead if you want a calmer, defense-first run (see the weapon tier list for that comparison). And if you’d rather freeze everything before it swings back, the dagger’s Frozen Smelt route is the control player’s answer.
